Our location

Being in the middle of a bird watching site, recommended in 'Where to watch birds in the West Midlands', this is a bird watchers paradise.

The Granary itself is home to Swifts and Swallows, as Buzzards soar overhead and House Martins nest in surrounding outbuildings. Particular specialities are Ravens, Dippers, Pied Flycatchers, and Crossbills.

As an area of outstanding natural beauty, it is an ideal location for artists. We are surrounded by picture postcard towns and villages offering country pubs and cottage industry craft shops.

The Granary is a gem of a place in a stunning setting. A perfect location for a chilled getaway, with Ludlow, Bishops Castle and Church Stretton nearby. Clunton is a lovely part of Shropshire with lots of opportunities for walks/cycling in beautiful countryside. Parking is easy and there is a private sunny courtyard garden. The interior is very comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. We have stayed there many times and absolutely love the surroundings. The locals are extremely friendly and The Crown Inn pub is only 100 metres away serving good beer and amazing food. A truly great place to stay.

We had a wonderful stay at the Granary by Clunton Farmhouse in mid-September 2021. A very welcome break after lock-down. Although there were only 2 of us there was ample room for another couple or 2 children in the second bedroom. Everything was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The kitchen/diner was well equipped and everything in working order. Luckily we had good weather and were able to take advantage of the back patio, filled with the smell of roses and views of the surrounding hills. The local pub is only 2 minutes walk away and serves excellent meals and local ales. There are plenty of decent walks on the doorstep and historic towns such as Clun and Bishops Castle a short drive away. We will certainly return to Clunton to discover this secret part of Shropshire and we would like to thank Pauline for being the perfect host.

We have stayed twice at the Granary with our own dog and had a great time on both occasions The accommodation is comfortable and pet friendly with all you need for a stay. It has its own secure garden area and there is also ample secure parking. If you are lucky, you will also meet Pauline’s lovely Golden Retrievers. There are numerous lovely walks from Clunton itself and easy access to explore the Shropshire hills and Welsh border country.

We had an absolutely fantastic and very relaxing stay at Clun Valley Retreat. The setting is beautiful with views of fields, trees and hills - all of which made for some great trail running and lots of hiking (often to the nearby towns of Bishops Castle and Clun to visit their pubs!) The nights were so peaceful which made for perfectly undisturbed nights of sleep and we were treated to many clear night skies too which allowed for star gazing. I would highly recommend staying here if you want to 'get away from it all' and unwind in the tranquil countryside. The accommodation itself is  spacious and has all the facilities you need to self cater. It also has its own courtyard for cups of tea in the sunshine and plenty of space for parking.
